Presidential Awards for Citizenship and Public Service 2013

January 16, 2013

Dear Colleagues:

I invite and encourage you to nominate students for the 2013 Presidential Awards for Citizenship and Public Service. Each year these awards recognize undergraduate and graduate students from all schools for outstanding achievement in community service and community leadership. To make a nomination, complete the form below by February 19.  You may also download the form (Microsoft Word) and submit via email or hard copy.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on April 19, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. in the Coolidge Room, Ballou Hall. Award recipients and their nominators will be invited to attend.

Education for active citizenship is a signature strength of Tufts, and one of the most important ways the university makes a positive impact on both individuals and society. The Presidential Awards are an opportunity both to recognize outstanding student accomplishment and to celebrate the diverse meanings of citizenship and public service that Tufts seeks to support. As you consider potential nominees, please bear in mind Tufts’ broad definition of citizenship and public service. The awards are an important opportunity for us to recognize the full range of citizenship and public service activities in which our students excel. These include, for example, volunteer service in established programs, informal kinds of service, new student initiatives, and participation in community activities and governance. We rely on you to help us identify outstanding student nominees from across all our undergraduate majors and all our graduate and professional schools.

Thank you for helping to continue this important Tufts tradition.

Best wishes,
Anthony P. Monaco
President
