A Summer of Policy and Politics in the Big Easy

“There is no typical day in New Orleans,” said Grainne Griffiths, A14, a fellow in Tisch College’s Active Citizenship Summer (ACS) program. Working with the non-profit advocacy organization Louisiana Partnership for Children and Families, Griffiths is getting an on the ground view of how education policy is made, influenced, and implemented at the state and local levels. more

Ounces of Prevention

Catalyzing the Knowledge Reaction

Associate Professor Arthur Utz has a vision for integrating community outreach, communication, and education into the science curriculum at Tufts. As chair of the chemistry department in the School of Arts and Sciences, Utz has supported the department in partnering with communities and educating students to communicate with non-scientists – all while undertaking his own research with implications for the future of sustainable energy. more

GROWing in Achham

Partnering with Bayalpata Hospital in Achham, Nepal, David Meyers, A13 Laura Corlin, A13 and Sindhya Rajeev, M15 adopted a mobile platform called FLOW (Field Level Operations Watch), which collect health data in real time via questionnaires, stored images, and GPS coordinates. Using Android devices and the FLOW system, the team is helping to make a radically transparent and accountable health system possible in rural Nepal for the first time. Read more in their blog

 

#YouthTruth: Get the Facts on Young Voters

CIRCLEWith the 2012 Presidential Election well underway, CIRCLE recently launched #YouthTruth, an educational campaign to address myths about young people. As part of the Campaign, CIRCLE will provide stakeholders with the research and resources they need to tell an accurate story about youth election participation, contributing accurate, timely, and contextualized research and data to public conversations about youth election participation. more
