Tufts Alumni has entered a team in the Tufts Relay for Life! The Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's primary fundraising event. It takes place at universities and communities around the nation.
At Tufts, the Relay is a 12-hour walkathon in the Gantcher Center. Teams raise money by collecting sponsorships and then participate in the relay by keeping a team member on the track throughout the night, walking in 30-minute shifts. The more people we have walking throughout the night, the more fun we have, and the more money we raise!
When not walking, participants are enjoying the camaraderie of the event - music, games, and of course, lots of food! Alumni team members will have the opportunity to connect with fellow alumni as well as students as they walk in this important cause.
Cancer survivors will begin the relay at 6PM by walking the first "victory lap" in a celebration of survivorship. At dark, the luminaria lighting ceremony honors all people who have been touched by cancer. The luminaries remain lit until 6AM the next morning.
Hundreds of members of the Tufts community participate in the Relay - there were 60 teams and 725 participants last year. Let’s get a strong alumni team on the track, representing Tufts Alumni in the fight against cancer. If you are unable to walk for the entire 12 hours, that’s okay, but we’d love to have you join us for a few shifts!

It costs $10 to register to participate, and all team members get a 2009 Relay for Life tee shirt! If you can’t participate, donations are still welcome (click on the link below).
